  • What is a Maker?
Collectively, the maker community is a global group of people who explore, make and learn. You’ll find makers online, on YouTube, for instance, demonstrating projects and talking about how to do things yourself. No matter what level of experience you have, you can connect with others to learn to make and to share projects, skills, and expertise.
  • What is a Makerspace?
Makerspaces in schools, libraries, and museums have become local hubs of creativity, innovation and collaboration. They are amazing resources to learn, explore and connect with concepts and people. While interesting on your own, making is best when it's social and you are sharing tools, materials and ideas.
  • Why Make?
Making is fun, but it is also a natural way to learn that is both active and engaging. Making overcomes boredom and rewards imagination and ingenuity. At FS Maker Day, we welcome Makers of all ages and skill levels. We just ask that you try. And try again. Anything worth learning requires effort and repetition. We also encourage you to try to do something that you didn’t know you could do. So, surprise yourself and your family with what you can make. You can learn to do anything. There are all kinds of ways that you can learn: from people, from videos, from books and magazines, and more. We will introduce you to lots of people and projects from the maker community.
  • Do kids need to have previous experience in using certain programs or having specific skills before they attend one of your programs?
No previous experience is required – just a desire to make things! Our instructors will show you kids to use any programs or materials safely, and teach them anything else you might want to know during our workshops.
  • What ages are your programs for?
We have something for everyone and all skill levels! Maker Day programming includes workshops for Grades K-8.
  • Do I have to register in advance for any program?
Yes, and spots are limited, so register early!
