about maker day 2024

Maker Day returns for its eighth year at Friends Seminary! We hope you’ll join the Friends community for this beloved celebration of engineering, technology and design. We have a fun-filled morning of hands-on activities planned for Kindergarten through eighth grade students. To learn more about these activities, please click here.

  • Students will be divided into activities by the following grade-levels: K-2; 3-4; 5-8.

  • All students will participate in two workshops, pre-selected during registration.

  • There are also several drop-in activities for all, including the Friends Annual Egg Drop Challenge, the Race Car Derby, the Marble Maze and Lego Building!

To participate, please read the following very important information!

How to attend

Advance registration is required. The registration fee for each student is $30. We are delighted to offer Financial Aid. More information can be found in your cart upon registration.

Registration must be completed by Monday, Feb. 26. There will be no onsite registration.

Maker Day has limited capacity and usually sells out. Please register early to ensure your spot.

If you are unable to attend the event after registering, refunds will not be issued, but you are welcome to transfer your ticket to someone else in your grade level. Please email Amanda Gelber, Maker Day Co-Chair, with any registration changes at ahallet@gmail.com.

Day-of Guidelines

  • In order to hold the event for as many students as possible, this will be a drop-off event for Grades 3-8.

  • All K-2 participants must have one parent/caregiver chaperone. (We are unable to accommodate more than one adult chaperone for K-2 participants.)

  • Maker Day is open to current Friends students and employee families. Please reach out with any questions or concerns, but due to the limited capacity of these activities, requests for non-student siblings will be immediately wait-listed in order to prioritize access for our students and employee families.

  • No food or drinks will be served. Please bring water bottles!

  • Some events will be held outdoors, and some workshops may be messy. Please dress appropriately!

  • Please arrive on time. Check-in opens at 8:45 AM; activities begin promptly at 9:15 AM.

  • Most importantly, get ready to create!
